It is so sad to say when a war and brilliant filmmaker-photojournalist who have just been nominated in the OSCAR this year has been killed this morning in Misurata, Libya.
Tim Hetherington, 41, British-born filmmaker and photojournalist has been killed today in Misurata while covering the ongoing conflict in Libya when an RPG hit him along with his colleagues. The acclaimed photographer and filmmaker was also a co-director and OSCAR nominated this year with co-director Sebastian Junger of their award winning movie, Restrepo, a film that showed 15-month deployment of the 2nd Platoon Army Battalion to Afghanistan.
Among of the injured were Chris Hondros, a Getty photographer and Pulitzer Prize- nominated, who was critically wounded and pronounced dead thereafter, Guy Martin, photographer of Panos Agency also suffered serious injury and in critical condition, Freelancer Michael Christopher Brown including hundreds of civilians and rebel fighters.
Thirty-six hours before Tim's death, he tweeted, "In besieged Libyan City of Misrata. Indiscriminate shelling by Qaddafi forces. No sign of NATO."
