THE LUNAR YEAR






The Lunar Year is celebrated worldwide at the turn of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar which is popular in China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Philippines and other countries in Asia. The Chinese celebrates and welcome its New Year on  Monday, February 8, 2016 which is called as Year of the Fire Monkey leaving behind the Year of the Sheep. 

There are numerous traditions associated with the Lunar Year which includes giving friends and family iconic red envelopes with money inside. Families hold special dinners the night before celebrating the New Year. 

The most preferred Lunar Year food to eat are fish, noodles, orange and tangerines as well as dumplings. According to the Chinese these are the lucky foods to eat during Chinese New Year. 

2016 is the Year of the Fire Monkey featured by eight monkeys in a kungfu stance that grasp challenges with fearless endeavor. It is a greeting book which inspire people to draw and learn from their own strengths to overcome these challenges. The three wise monkeys are Mizaru covering his eyes; Kikazaru, covering his ears; and Iwazaru, covering his mouth which means: "see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil".
