What a very amazing story that sparked worldwide interests. A 33-year-old woman gave birth to an octuplets. Here's the story.
Nadya Suleman was married in 1996 and separated from her husband in 2000. Her divorce with her husband was not finalized until 2008. Nadya who is now 33, a single mother, already had six children, ages 2-year-old twins, 3, 5, 6, 7. She lives with her parents together with her children.
Obsessed of having many children, again, last year, Suleman decided to have an embryo fertilization from the same donor of her 6 children. That's it! And this very day, Monday, January 26, 2009, she finally gave birth to an octuplets, 6 boys and 2 girls at Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Medical Center, Bellflower, Los Angeles, California. These 14 children she have were all conceived through embryo or vitro fertilization.
Nadya and her octuplets remained hospitalized until such time they are already permitted to leave the hospital. The Doctors of Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Medical Center said that the babies are growing stronger each day and are breathing unassisted and feeding on donated breast milk.
The births truly sparked worldwide interests and are now entertaining offers from media outlets around the world for a possible care of the mother and her octuplets.
Although it was a successful births but Suleman has been receiving disapproval from some medical ethicists and fertility specialists, who argue that high number multiple births endanger the mother likewise frequently lead to a long-term health and development problems for the children. Criticism were flooding because of her obsessed behavior without taking into the consequences.
According to the Doctors, the babies are growing stronger every day and make good progress while the mother is receiving gift baskets, sealed envelops and flowers.
After hospitalization, Suleman will go back to her parents and live with them together with her 14 children.
