LIBYA CRISIS: GADDAFI'S FAMILY FLED TO ALGERIA

(Col. Gaddafi's wife, Safia; sons Muhammad and Hannibal and daughter Ayesha)

Algeria's APS News Agency through its Foreign Ministry said that the family of fugitive Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi fled to Algeria.

Safia, the wife of Gaddafi,  together with her sons Mohammad and Hannibal and daughter Ayesha left Libya early Monday and seek refuge to Algeria while the fugitive leader still went into hiding to date.

Libyan rebels said that the sheltering of Algeria to the family members of Gaddafi is considered as an act of aggression and calling them for extradition.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports quoted by the rebels stated that Gaddafi's son, Khamis, might have been killed  in a clash near Bani Walid since his soldiers have been captured and burned in the area.

The rebels were trying to overcome the pockets of resistance by Gaddafi's loyalists and preparing for advance search of  Gaddafi in his birthplace, Sirte however,  they believes that Col. Gaddafi was still in Tripoli area.

NTC Spokesman of Algeria, Mahmoud Shamman told Reuters News Agency, "we have promised to provide a just trial to all those criminals. We are warning not to shelter Gaddafi and his sons."

SUPREME COURT JUSTICE JOHN PAUL STEVENS RETIRING

Justice John Paul Stevens officially announced today, Friday, that he is retiring as Justice of the Higher Court of the land.

Justice Stevens, 89, joined the Supreme Court in 1975 during the presidency of President Gerald Ford and has been serving his country from his enlistment before the day of the Pearl Harbor to his long and distinguished tenure in the Supreme Court with honor, humility and as impartial guardian of the law.

Stevens said he will step down as soon as the court finishes its work for the summer in late June or early July. He said he hopes his successor is confirmed "well in advance of the commencement of the court's next term."

Speaking to reporters in the Rose Garden after returning from a trip to Europe, President Obama offered ample praise for Stevens and promised to move quickly to replace him.

"While we cannot replace Justice Steven's experience and wisdom, I will seek someone in the coming weeks with similar qualities: an independent mind, a record of excellence and integrity, a fierce dedication to the rule of law and a keen understanding of how the law affects the daily lives of the American people." Obama said.

Potential nominees are 7th Circuit Appeals Court Judge Diane Wood, 59; Solicitor General Elena Kagan, 49; and D.C. Circuit Appeals Court Judge Merrick Garland, 57.

Possible contenders are State Department Legal Adviser and Former Yale Law Dean Harold Koh, 55, who would also become the Supreme Court's First Asian-American Justice and Cass Sunstein, 55, a longtime Constitutional Law Professor now overseeing the federal government's regulation-approval unit at the Office of Management and Budget.

PINK SLIPS FLOODED TO CONGRESS

WASHINGTON - Tuesday, November 17 at 11:00 a.m. a press conference will be hosted by the Members of the House and the Senate at the House Triangle outside the U.S. Capitol. Senator Jim DeMint of R-South Carolina, Congressman Trent Franks (R-Arizona) Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa) will be present in today's event likewise the founder and President of Faith2Action, Janet (Folger) Porter.

Nearly 3 times the size of the Washington Monument of "Pink slips" have already been delivered to Congress demanding that the Government will stay out of health care, energy and speech.

"It's encouraging to know that the message is finally being heard and not a moment too soon," Porter said. Senator DeMint stated that "these pink slips are getting to people right now. It's the only reason people haven't passed something (the health care bill) in the Senate.... Keep it up and let's keep trying to draw attention to it."

Meanwhile, more than 4.5 million pink slip warning notices have already been sent to Congress by concerned citizens across the nation through WorldNetDaily. The website is www.SendCongressPinkSlip.com

Joseph Farah, CEO of WorldNetDaily who will also participate of today's press conference said, "Placed end to end, the 'pink slips' would stretch from the District of Columbia to the Sears Tower of Chicago." "If stacked, the pile of pink would be taller than the Sears Tower itself."

U.S. Representative Tom Price (R-Georgia) said, "They're talking about it, but they're only talking about it behind closed doors and in the elevators as they go up and down and in very whispered tones. Because, what you hear are people saying, "How many of those did you get or how many people came to your office today? And what are you going to do and how are you going to vote on this?"

FORMER DEMOCRATIC LOUISIANA CONGRESSMAN WILLIAM JEFFERSON SENTENCED TO 13 YEARS FOR BRIBERY AND CORRUPTION

Alexandria, Va. - Former Democratic Louisiana Congressman William Jefferson was sentenced today for 13 years imprisonment after being charged of multiple charges including bribery and corruption in its judgment rendered by US District Judge T. S. Ellis III.

The sentenced was the longest term ever imposed to congressman on bribery charges.

US District Judge T. S. Ellis III said he did take Jefferson's life history into account but that public corruption must be dealt with severely. "Public corruption is a cancer on the body politic," said Ellis who lamented that so many other congressmen have been convicted on similar charges. "There must be some sort of greed virus that attacks those in power."

When sentenced, Jefferson showed no visible reaction to the verdict, nor did his wife and five adult daughters who attended the hearing.

The two jurors who convicted Jefferson also attended the hearing. Jefferson maintained his stand as a private businessman and was innocent of the multiple charges against him, however, investigation finds prima facie evidence to warrant his conviction as on the early of 11th of August this year.

Jefferson was convicted for 16 counts including bribery, depriving citizens of honest services, money laundering and racketeering.

Investigation also finds in his home $90,000 wrapped in a foil placed inside in his freezer which evidence was also submitted in court.

Jefferson through his counsel filed a motion to fix bail bond in order for him to post a bond for his temporary liberty while his case is pending appeal before an appellate court.
