Lily Ramirez and Daniela Victoria, junior swimmers of Florida University were arrested on Saturday for shoplifting a pair of jackets from Nordstrom, Orlando Mall valued at $130. The two faces two charges of Misdemeanor Petty Theft after admission of committing the crime and have been suspended indefinitely by the team.
Gregg Troy, Florida swimming coach released a statement about the arrest, "We are extremely disappointed in the actions of two of our student-athletes this past weekend. Both individuals have been suspended indefinitely, and will miss the 2011 SEC Swimming Championships and beyond. University of Florida student-athletes are held to a high standard of character. This was unquestionably a massive error in judgment, and our program simply cannot and will not tolerate this type of behavior."
Ramirez and Victoria, were released from jail after being pulled over by a deputy and were able to return the stolen jackets.
